On empowerment – places of healing and power

Give Your Dream Wings - Marianne Soucy - Empowerment 940 This first article in the mini-article series on Empowerment we deal with places as a way to healing and empowerment. Empowerment is such an important topic in these times when so many people feel powerless, helpless and without direction. But what is empowerment and how do we become empowered? That is what I asked my spirit guides in a journey which follows below: I prepare for the journey and as always I start by becoming present here where I am, not wanting to be some place else. This is where I am, and it’s okay. Relaxing into being here now. I begin to fill out my body with my awareness, becoming present in my own body, accepting it as it is. I don’t always appreciate my body as much as I could, so I take a moment now and feel and express my gratitude to this body of mine that has supported me so faithfully for all these years. It’s scary and awe-inspiring at the same time to think of.

“Becoming empowered is in its simplest form to become truly present and to open up to and embrace the power which is available to you at all times – the power which is part of who you are. When you are cut off from your power, you are cut off from yourself. The more you come closer to becoming yourself, to finding and being your true self, the closer you become to being and expressing the power which is yours and which you are.”

It’s my spirit guide who is speaking. He strolls calmly beside me as we walk on the beach with the ocean to our left side. It’s such a healing, cleansing, and empowering place to be.

He smiles, “Exactly! Places are also empowering. A classic place of empowerment in nature is by the ocean. It allows you to experience and clearly see the process of empowerment. Being by the sea gives you a feeling of being cleansed, which is step one, to let go of what you don’t need to hang on to, in this connection especially feelings, thoughts, beliefs, etc. It brings healing by providing you with fresh air to breathe in deeply, renewing you on the inside. It brings healing and harmony through the sounds the waves make as they roll up on the land. And if you make it into a meditation – notice what other sounds there are: birds, wind, etc. The power that is present in and by the sea brings you power too. And the open view to the horizon allows you to open your mind and your heart, to take a wider perspective or view of your life, of the world. By the sea you get more in touch with nature and with yourself. This is just one example of the many ways you can get healing and empowerment.

As you heal and begin to embrace your power, you also need further support to connect with your specific gifts or power, and how to bring it out in the world. We’ll get to that at another time. For now let the healing take place by listening to the soft sounds of the sea.”

I thank my spirit guide and end the journey.

Action Step

1) What type of landscape in nature helps you makes you feel healed and empowered? Please share in the comments section below. 2) Plan to spend some time during the next week in that landscape – and remember it doesn’t neccessarily have to be in ‘real life’; you can also visit your favorite empowering landscape in meditations, visualizations, and Sacred Spirit Journeys. If your place of empowerment is by the sea, I recommend my meditation, “Gathering Your Light“.

Comments

  1. Beautiful post Marianne. There are two places where I feel the most connected and empowered. The ocean and the deep forest. I am so grateful that I live in a part of the world where I have access to both.

  2. Thank you for the lovely post, Marianne. The ocean always gives so much to me. Even though I live close to the mountains, the sea always calls to me.

  3. As an elemental, I love nature. I am often found outdoors in the garden, hiking (not on the trails- you should see the beauty that is off trails-ever careful of the environment) and the beach. This is my empowerment and a way to disengage and power up. Much Love, Natasha

  4. Lovely post! The mountains call to my soul even though I am here back by the ocean. I travel in meditation or look at pics to “feel them”. Thank you!

  5. Marianne, I am fortunate enough to live in the type of landscape that makes me feel empowered: by the river, surrounded by vineyards and apple orchards. I brought some of the landscape in my own garden, and you are so right… it feels divine to be able to enjoy it up close. Every time I feel down, I escape my home office, and spend time in nature, nurturing the little plants that give us so much!
