On July 1st (2015), the well-known lion Cecil was brutally killed by an American hunter in Zimbabwe, and understandably, there’s a general outrage and sadness worldwide after the loss of this great creature.
I decided to do a Sacred Spirit Journey (similar to a shamanic journey) to connect with Cecil in the afterlife to hear if he has a message he would like to share. In the following I share the journey I did to meet the spirit of Cecil the lion.
As I begin the Sacred Spirit Journey, I find myself, together with my spirit guide, in a place that looks like the African savannah. We get close to a big lion standing with a large circle of animals (and humans too, as far as I can see) around him. We approach slowly, and he turns his attention towards us. He is very regal. He sees into my heart and says:
“You have come to receive a message to bring back. Well, here it is:
“As unfair, humiliating, and outrageous an act it was to kill me, the time is now for me to stand in my place as ruler/king and speak on behalf of the animals here and other places, who suffer daily in silence by mindless and cruel acts done by humans who have lost their connection with their fellow Earth beings – and with their own heart.”
“Perhaps it takes a killing like mine to wake up the sleeping masses and call for action to be taken against unnecessary killing and – just as importantly – to return to walking the path of the heart – to walking on this precious Earth in a way where we are all brothers and sisters.”
“In nature, there’s a natural cycle of life, but what some humans do, is not ‘natural’. Let my life and death be a reminder of how grand life is – of what’s truly possible in life, and how important it is for each human to stand up for what’s right – to create a life and a world that respects other living beings.”
“Don’t let it stop with hatred and vengeance; use my example to inspire you to stand firm in your faith and compassion.”
“Each day many animals less spectacular than I die and suffer unnoticed – I wish to let my light shine on them, and call for action and compassion for those who can’t speak for themselves. I speak for them. That is my responsibility, and that is my wish.” I thank him, and he withdraws. The animals around him stay close; they want to be in his presence.
My spirit guide says:
“Remember, always let compassion be your guiding light. Even when it involves righting a terrible wrong or cruelty.”
I say: “That may be difficult to do for most. They might ask if that means not to punish the guy who did it.”
Spirit guide:
“No, it doesn’t mean that, but it means you don’t stop with punishment. You set it as your goal and intention to create a compassionate world – and take positive action to create that.” I thank everyone and end the journey.

Thank you for this message. All animals are Cecil. One of the reasons I am vegan is to not inflict suffering on other living beings for meals on my plate that are soon forgotten. Every life matters. I choose to be a voice for those who have none. Thank you again.
